The promo of "The Bully Project" (directed by Lee Hirsch) gives the full-length documentary a very touching an emotion filled feeling! This documentary promo is presented through the perspective of three American children who had been bullied throughout their life, and the parents of a child who had committed suicide because of severe bullying. The first perspective is told through the story of a young boy who gets picked on at school. According to him, kids at school strangle him, punch him and sit on him, but near the end of this promo, the viewers learn that he has eventually made some friends! The second perspective is also given through the viewpoint of a boy who is bullied at school. A part that really stands out for me is when he says that a "good day" for him is a day when the bullies at his school leave him alone. The third story is altered, and given through the perspective of two parents who had lost their son due to severe bullying. In my opinion, this is the most touching story, because it shows how bullying can alter one’s life so dramatically, that it makes them not want to live anymore. Finally, the last story is given through the perspective of a lesbian girl who is bullied by her church and community because of her sexual orientation. This is a sad example of how not only youth are bullies, but adults can be bullies as well.
I really enjoy the way this film is visually presented. All of the shots are clear, with a variety of angles, and a high aperture. ( what effect does the "high aperture have on the look of the video) Various shots of the victims, the family members and the bullies are shown and interviews are taken to get more information!
As well as the visual presentation, the verbal content was striking and had the ability to make any audience member feel strongly for the victims. I really enjoy the fact that this documentary is put together using a contrast of shots of different bullying situations and shots between the bullies and the victims. I also enjoy the fact that it shows the many ways that people can express the pain of bullying. The stories told by the bullying victims all begin by telling a sad story, but later in the story, give the audience other, happy stories from their lives. I thought this promo for an outstanding looking documentary was put together so convincingly, I want to watch the full length documentary when if comes out! Because of it's visually appealing and has an emotional story, I give this documentary a 9/10. I have deducted one point, because I feel as though too much information is given in the trailer, and the full length documentary might lack new, exciting information.
Each year, over 18 million youth are bullied, and this film is a fantastic way to express the effects of bullying to other youth!
Well Done Erin. Thanks. Careful of the use of comma's 22/24
50 people one question: Many of the people who were responding to the question in this documentary said that they would want to wake up somewhere comforting. For example, many people who were not originally from New York said they would like to wake up back home.
Last Minutes with Oden: In this documentary, the theme of this story is the fact that the dog is always forgiving and loves to man unconditionally.
Black Hole: The metaphor in this story is how human greed can "suck you in" and make you do things you would never usually do.
The Bully Project: This is a very emotional and relatable documentary promo. I really like how it was filmed, and the different story it gives.
